Logitech has always believed that voice and video communications are a natural extension of e-mail and instant messaging, providing for richer, real-time communication. Today, Google announced the addition of voice and video chat to their popular Gmail service. With Gmail voice and video chat, people can chat in high-quality video for free right from within Gmail. All you need is a webcam (Logitech ones work great!) and a free plugin that downloads in seconds.

At the bottom of the Gmail chat window, there is a new "Video & more" link that opens options to "video chat" or "voice chat." Clicking on one of these links will ring the contact and the chat will be connected when they accept. You can pop out and change the size of the video chat window or go full screen.

So next time you log into Gmail, have a video chat instead of sending an e-mail to keep in touch with your friends and family.
