¿Qué es GSM y CDMA?
GSM es un estándar internacional utilizado en más de 220 países que permiten la comunicacion simultánea de voz y datos (puede hablar y enviar correo electrónico o mensajes de texto al mismo tiempo). Ahora, la primera pregunta que pasa por su mente es como voy a hablar y enviar datos al mismo tiempo? imaginese que está hablando con su amigo en su nuevo iPhone (ATT), digamos que a través de Bluetooth (para que sea mas conveniente) y al mismo tiempo decide obterner informacion acerca de una película de extreno. Mientras habla con su amigo por el iPhone, puedes hacer un clic en Fandango, seleccionar su zona y le permitirá saber qué películas están presentando en el cine por su area. Le dejas saber a tu amigo y compras los boletos en línea inmediatamente. Le dice a tu amigo que vas a reunirte con él en el cine, y de por supuesto la hora y que has adquirido las entradas.
CDMA es usado solo en tres países en todo el mundo y es una red de un solo uso, que le permiten hacer una cosa a la vez, ya sea hablar o enviar datos (email, SMS, BBM). Ahora imagine su iPhone connectado con el proveedor de servicio celular Verizon, y el mismo escenario que el anterior, Llamas a tu amigo, le habla sobre la pelicula de extreno, le dice que le llamara de vuelta , te connectas a fandango y chequeas las peliculas. Le regresa la llamada a tu amigo le déjà saver cuales peliculas estan en el cine, despues de ponerse de acuerdo, vuelve a corgarle para averiguar a que hora van a presentar la pelicula. Llama a tu amigo de nuevo y le déjà saber la hora de presentacion. Despues cuelga de nuevo y regresas al la pagina web de Fandago y compra las entradas. Llama a tu amigo otra vez y le deja saber que compraste los boletos. La Ventaja de CDMA sobre GSM es, que no realiza transferencias de datos al mismo tiempo que está hablando esto le permitirá una conexión más limpia y suave.
Ahora cual servicio es el mejor? Eso es una decisión personal. ATT sigue el estándar mundial, pero no siempre es la mejor red en los EE.UU. Verizon cuenta con el mejor servicio de telefonía celular de voz, pero no sigue las normas mundiales, así que usted decide.

What is GSM and CDMA?
GSM is an international standard used in over 220 countries that allow for simultaneous voice and data (you can talk and send email or text messages at the same time). Now the first question that's running through your mind is when am I going to talk and send data at the same time? Well picture this you are talking to your friend on your new iPhone (ATT), let's say over Bluetooth (to make it easier) and you decide to catch a movie. While talking to your friend you take out your iPhone, click on Fandango, type in your area and it will let you know what movies are playing around you, you let your friend know and buy the tickets immediately online. You let your friend know you will meet him at the movie theater, at what time, and that you purchased the tickets.
CDMA is used in 3 countries worldwide and is a single use network, that allow you to do one thing at a time, either talk or send data (email, SMS, BBM). Now imagine your iPhone was on Verizon, same scenario as above, you would have to call your friend, talk about the movie, tell your friend that you will call them back, launch Fandango, check the movie, call them back, check the time, hang up, book the movie, call them back and let them know you brought the tickets. CDMA's advantage over GSM is since it does not transfer data at the same time you are talking it allow for a cleaner smoother connection.
Now which service is better? That's a personal decision. ATT follows the world standard but it's not always the best network in the USA. Verizon has the best cell phone voice service, but it does not follow the world standards, so you decide.
